Pup Friendly Galveston Trip

It's no secret that I'm a crazy dog mom! I love to bring my Barley boy everywhere he can possibly tag along and take pictures of him every time he breathes. Last week, when I got the idea to make a trip to Galveston for the day and bring him along, I wasn't sure there would even be enough dog friendly places. I thought we may be stuck outside most of the day. After a little research I found out there is so much to do in Galveston with your pup!

I went to Bring Fido first to find places that are dog friendly. This website allows you to search any city and find hotels, restaurants, activities, events and services for dogs in the area. I'm going to share all of the places we visited but check out their website for more. There are so many places on their site, we could've made a weekend out of it. Here's an overview of our day!

First stop: The Strand
Strand Street is a great place to walk around with your pup if they like people and other dogs. Barley loved meeting all the other dogs and people that came up and gave him pets! There are a few places that have walk up bars. In Galveston, you can walk up and grab a beer or frozen drink and walk around The Strand. There were a few times I left the hubs sitting outside with Barley while I went into a shop. However, Surf Styles, Strand Brass, Kites Unlimited and Dorothy May's are all pup friendly stores!

 The Stuttgarden Tavern
I can't think of anything that would top a restaurant where you can dine with your dog! On top of that, they had awesome German pub style food and 50 beers on tap! We had the fried pickles for an appetizer and The Steven burger. I enjoyed a Jolly Pumpkin Turbo Bam. We will definitely be back next time we're in Galveston!

 Second Stop: BayWatch Dolphin Tours
This tour service allows your pup to take a boat ride in Galveston Bay. They are open every day from 10am-5pm. Their website says the boat departs every hour on the hour. I believe it may have had a different schedule due to the time of year or the weekend. Saturday, they had 2 boats running and they left every half hour. We arrived at 2pm and purchased tickets for the 2:30 tour. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children 2-12. Pups are free! This is a 45 minute tour through the bay. We saw at least 10 dolphins jumping through the water. I recommend grabbing a seat at the bow!

Third stop: The beach
It was such a tiring day we only stayed on the beach long enough for Barley to pose for a few pictures. We hope to dedicate an entire day to the beach soon. Barley loved digging around in the sand but his dad wasn't too happy about bringing sand back with us!

What we packed
Sunscreen, a huge bottle of water, travel water bowl, beach blanket, leash, waste bags

Don't forget to keep your fur baby on a leash and use waste bags to clean up after them!

What we wore
